Privacy Policy for Star Assault

Applies to the Android app Space Shooter: Star Assault (package com.littlejoygames.starassault).
Last updated: 2 October 2026

Star Assault is a single-player arcade shooter. There is no account, no login, no chat and no social feature, and the game has no backend server of its own. This policy explains the data handled by the game and by the Google advertising, consent, analytics and crash-reporting services it uses.

Who we are

Star Assault is developed and published by LittleJoy Games, an independent developer, contactable at gameslittlejoy@gmail.com. In data protection terms we act as the data controller for the limited information described below.

Intended audience

Star Assault is not directed to children. It is intended for a general audience and is not part of Google Play's Designed for Families programme. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your country). If you believe a child has used the app and you wish to raise a concern, contact us at the address above.

Information the game stores on your device

Your progress is saved locally on your device using Android's standard preferences storage. It never leaves your phone except through Android's own backup feature, if you have that enabled in your Google account settings. This includes:

Uninstalling the app removes its on-device copy. If Android backup is enabled, Google may retain a backup and restore the progress when the app is reinstalled or moved to another device.

Information collected for advertising

The game is free and funded by advertising. We use Google AdMob to display rewarded video ads (which you choose to watch in exchange for in-game rewards) and interstitial ads between stages. To select, serve and measure those ads, Google may collect and process:

DataPurpose
Advertising ID (a resettable identifier) Ad selection, frequency capping, fraud prevention and measurement
Approximate location derived from IP address Serving region-appropriate ads and applying local privacy rules
Device and app information (model, OS version, app version, language) Ad compatibility and reporting
Ad interaction events (impressions, clicks, rewarded video completions) Revenue reporting and invalid traffic detection

We do not ask for or receive your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files or precise GPS location. The app uses internet and network-state access for ads, vibration for gameplay feedback, and the advertising ID permission for advertising. It does not request camera, microphone, location, storage or notification permissions.

Google's handling of this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Privacy Policy.

Analytics and crash reporting

Star Assault uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand how the game is played and to diagnose crashes.

What is collected

What is not collected

How to turn it off

Open Settings → Share Anonymous Usage Data and switch it off. This disables analytics and crash reporting on the device immediately. The game stays fully playable and your progress is unaffected.

Retention

Analytics data is retained by Google for up to 14 months; crash reports for up to 90 days. See https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Your choices and consent

Consent for personalised ads. Where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and certain US states), the app shows a Google-certified consent message using Google's User Messaging Platform before ads are requested. You choose there whether your data may be used for personalised advertising. Where the option is required, you can revisit that choice at any time through About → Ad Privacy Choices inside the game.

Advertising ID controls. On your device you can reset your advertising ID or delete it entirely via Settings → Privacy → Ads. Deleting it stops personalised advertising across all apps; you will still see ads, but non-personalised ones.

Analytics and crash reporting. Open Settings → Share Anonymous Usage Data inside the game and switch it off to disable Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics on your device immediately. The game stays fully playable and your progress is unaffected.

Rewarded ads are optional. You never have to watch a rewarded ad to play the campaign; they only grant bonus coins, gems, revives and similar extras.

Removing local data. You can clear Star Assault's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app. Android or Google backups may remain subject to your device and Google account backup settings.

Legal bases (EEA and UK users)

Data retention

Game progress remains on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall the app, subject to Android backup. Advertising information is retained by Google under the retention settings and schedules applicable to AdMob. Analytics and crash data are retained as described in the Analytics and crash reporting section above. We do not operate our own player-account database.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, or to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Requests involving information processed by Google may also need to be handled through Google's privacy controls; we will help where we can. Write to gameslittlejoy@gmail.com.

International transfers

Google may process advertising data on servers in a number of countries including the United States. Those transfers are governed by Google's safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.

Security

The game operates no user accounts or developer-hosted player database. Communications with Google services use encrypted connections. Access to service dashboards is restricted to authorised developer accounts.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, note it in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
